Set strategic direction and support the Program Manager on a Department of Homeland Security contract for marketing, and media and Congressional outreach services. This position involves identifying stakeholders, developing and implementing outreach strategies, and following immigration issues.
Principal Responsibilities:
Develop and implement an outreach strategy that targets federal audiences, NGOs and state and local groups through traditional Congressional outreach strategies and social media
Develop and maintain message platform
Engage Members of Congress, staffers and liaisons
Understand the issues and manage potential or actual opposition from local immigration groups or political leadership that may affect Congressional relations and decisions
Prepare county briefs and overviews of political landscapes
Prepare briefing books and slide deck presentations
Perform tasks and deliverables associated with congressional relations activities
Research political landscapes for relevant communities
Support consistent messaging across all outreach efforts, including media outreach
Develop testimony, letters and questions for the record
Generate opportunities for client speaking events and/or vet and support speaking events
Cooperate with other efforts under this project including training, marketing materials, media outreach and website management
Qualifications:
Knowledge of Congressional process
Familiarity with immigration or law enforcement issues
Understanding of local stakeholders and grassroots lobbying
Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet deadlines
Can easily handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Must be able to work cooperatively as a member of a team as well as independently
Must possess patience, flexibility, and a good sense of humor, and be solution-focused
Must have strong professionalism and exceptional interpersonal skills
Requirements:
College degree required with 5 years experience.
Immigration or law enforcement work preferred.
Must be able to work on-site for a federal client in Washington, D.C., 9 - 5:30, 5 days a week.
Must have Secret clearance or confidence in their ability to successfully pass a background investigation.
Must be U.S. Citizen and have resided in the U.S. for 3 of the past 5 years. Non-U.S. citizens, including Lawful Permanent Residents (LPRs), need not apply.
